What business funding options are availible to people with bad credit? Hi, I have just finished my high end winter outerwear line, which consist of Men's outerwear in the price range of $700-$1,250. The line was very expensive to make: pattern makers, fabric, grading, etc. So it took alot of my income that I could use. Since I am having the products made in the US, they will continue to be expensive to make, but it ensures quality. My issue is i fell victim to the college credit card companies my freshman year of college. I paid of my debts, but my credit is still not great. I don't think a bank will lend me the money to handle orders (which I have quite a few potential ones amongst family and friends) What other options are there for me to get start up money. I was thinking of making people make deposits to cover the cost, since each coat is made to order, but since I am new I don't think it will work. What options are availible to me to get funding other than the banks. I live in NJ, am in collge and am a minority, i know that can sometimes sometimes add options. Thanks!!

This is also in Arkansas...if the state in which she lives has anything to do with it. Where are good websites...offices...etc. to go for funding or possible grant funding? also, how would a business loan work for someone with not so good credit?

Is there goverment funds that will help a business that will share some profits with a non-profit orginazition?
isnt a self-funded, or privately funded, self-employed business the only real level playing field? whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, native americans, women and men, even children. All of these groups have an equal chance in working for oneself. In any other professional area, either popularity, money, or race, ethnicity, religion, or preferences put one above another. even government funding is largely reserved for " minorities " Not so in private self employment. Thank God for that.
Business Partnership Disagreement? Business partnership in Texas. My business partner put up the start-up capital to start the business and in return for doing so he received 55% ownership in the company. The idea for the business was mine and I had the business and professional expertise to run the business; in exchange for this I received 45% ownership. We agreed that I was to receive a monthly payment of $6,000 for managing the company while my business partner waited for the company to be profitable before drawing any form of payment. After a year and a half our business was able to pay back all the initial funding capital back to my business partner. In addition to collecting all his funding monies my business partner think he is owed the money that I collected monthly for managing the company for the last year and a half. This is news to me as we had never previously discussed this and it certainly did not come up when we started the company nor is this stipulated in our partnership agreement. His rational is that because it was taken out as a “partner draw” he is owed this money, and after he collects this money, then we can start to split the profits according to our ownership percentages. The way that I see it is that this was money that was treated as an expense this whole time and it was money that was specified in our agreement to be paid in exchange for my managing the company full time (my partner spends about 15%-20% of his time on company related issues). I managed this business to the point where my partner has collected all his funding monies plus the company has a few hundred thousand in profit in the bank, not to mention that the current value of the company is over 2.5 million. Meaning that in exchange for my salary I made my business partner “business equity” that is now worth well over a million to him. How can my business partner be due my pay for managing the company if it’s not stipulated in our agreement? Is he owned these funds without having to put in the “work hours” that it took to get the company to where it is? Below is the extent of the language covering the topic in our partnership agreement; you will notice that the agreement specifically states that this is payment for managing the company and not a required part of this agreement. Here is the wording on the agreement. “Person A is 55% majority holder, person B (me) is 45% minority holder. Person B is to manage the business and receive a compensation for doing so. Neither person’s B management, nor his payment for doing so are a required part of this agreement, but is an additional side agreement reviewed on a monthly basis, cancelable by either party. Once the distributions on the partnership interest is equal or greater than person’s B compensation, he will receive this partnership interest and cash flow as his pay. Once that transition is made, he will then receive all payments when distributions are made. Current payments are taken as partner draws.” Thanks for your comments.
Who agrees that Obama's socialism is black reparations for slavery? http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=303088377885894 'I consistently believe that when it comes to . . . reparations," Obama recently told a gathering of minority journalists, "the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds." A few days later, he clarified his remarks, saying he's not calling for direct cash payments to descendents of slaves, but rather indirect aid in the form of government programs that will "close the gap" between what he sees as white America and black America. He says government should offer "universal" programs — such as universal health care, universal mortgage credits, college tuition, job training and even universal 401(k)s — that "disproportionately affect people of color." In other words, reparations by another name. Obama knows that if he pushes too hard on reparations, he might scare off white voters. So he couches race-specific welfare as "universal" social programs that appeal to broad-based political coalitions — "even if they disproportionately help minorities," he confides in his book, "Audacity of Hope." Obama has a name for his scheme: "universal strategies." "An emphasis on universal, as opposed to race-specific, programs isn't just good policy," he wrote. "It's also good politics." Maybe so. But not all his plans for reparations are roundabout. His book and Web site outline a separate plan calling for essentially a government bailout of the inner cities. Among other things, he proposes: • Doling out faith-based grants "targeting ex-offenders." • Subsidizing supermarket chains that relocate to the inner city to deliver "fresh produce" to blacks, helping wean them off unhealthy fast food. • Imposing "goals and timetables for minority hiring" on large corporations whose work forces are deemed too white. • Continuing to fund the Community Development Block Grant program, Head Start and HUD public housing subsidies. • Funding Small Business Administration loans for minority businesses who train ex-felons, including gangbangers, for the "green jobs" of the future, such as installing extra insulation in homes. • Doubling the funding for federal after-school programs such as midnight basketball. • Subsidizing job training, day care, transportation for inner-city poor, as well as doubling the funding of the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program. • Expanding the eligibility of the earned income tax credit to include more poor, and indexing it to inflation. • Adopting entire inner-city neighborhoods as wards of the federal government. • Spending billions on new inner-city employment programs, including prison-to-work programs. This is just a down payment on the "economic justice" Obama has promised the NAACP — financed by "tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation's wealth," he says in his book. And the indirect aid he's proposing now could quickly turn into cash transfers once Obama is safely ensconced in the White House. Claiming "blacks were forced into ghettos," Obama is certainly sympathetic to the idea of reparations. His church has actively petitioned for them for decades. And he's strongly suggested there's a legal case to be made for them. "So many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow," he said. "We still haven't fixed them." He assumes the economic gap is a legacy of discrimination and largely unrelated to personal responsibility. He also makes it seem things haven't gotten better for blacks. In this, Obama is intellectually dishonest. In his book, he cites statistics showing a 70% rise over the past two decades in the number of "Latino families considered middle class," but never cites one stat showing the even more impressive gains of the black middle class. He complains about low black wages, but never mentions the quantum leap in black home-ownership rates. Why? Such stats would undermine his case for roundabout reparations. Even if it were true, he says, "better isn't good enough." "The problems of inner-city poverty arise from our failure to face up to an often tragic past," Obama said. Now it's payback time.

Is there a good site to look for Goverment Grants? My hubby and I are serious about opening up a grilled chicken place. We have the menu and business plan. We need the funding. I know there are grants available for minorities, women and for small business. Do you know any good websites for that?
Small Business Loans and/or Grants for Minorities? I am a Filipino (hopefully looking for answers from any other filipino experianced in this matter) looking to either obtain a small business loan, state, government, or privatized funded grant, or other acquirable capital to buy into a small business that is essentially a franchise. Not like a restaurant but a service company requiring $50,000 capital for the equipment purchase. I would also need an additional $25-50,000 for overhead (building lease, advertising, uniforms, etc.). I live in Texas if that is relevent. I do not have any of my own capital and or collateral. I rent my home and only have a vehicle paid off. I have dark brown curly hair, enjoy strolls on the beach and like to karoake......whoa, ok, now I'm going off on a tangent. Anyways, any information would be greatly appreciated. And as I do on other questions, smart alecky remarks will be welcome as well.... ~jaz~
I need financing for my Salon and spa any suggestions? I have been in business a couple of years and it is hard for minorities to get funding do you know of anyplace?
How is Robert Byrd a "left wing liberal?" What about southern Democrats such as George Wallace? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RZ4G251WR4 ^Here is a George Wallace political ad for his Presidential bid in 1968.Here,he speaks of returning the control of the public school system to the "people of the respective states." As for Robert Byrd,he seems to have a mix of liberal and conservative positions, placing him far from the spectrum of a "left wing liberal." I want to start a business.........? I have a great business idea, and would like to know how to go about starting a business. Like how can i write a grant or are there anyspecial programs for minorities or women or first time business owners in general and in my area(near chicago, illinois). I would like to provide a service for my community while providing a college fund for my children with the money i hope to earn. ANY HELP WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
Less likely to get grants if I have a "crutch"? Right now, I'm looking to file for grants and other funding for minorities and disabled people, to start an at-home business. Because of my symptoms, I'll need my husband to act as a partner or a "relations manager" from time to time. Will explaining that in a grant application hurt my chances of getting funding? In other words: In my grant applications, should I focus on my strengths but also explain my limitations? If I do so, should I leave out the part where I'll need help from someone more capable to do the job?
Should American's tolerate Obama's use of angry mobs to extort from private business? Should American's tolerate Obama's use of angry mobs to extort from private business? Artist, blogger and founder of satirical ThePeoplesCube.com, Oleg Atbashian, writes: Recent actions from Obama reminded me of a ploy Stalin used on Western entrepreneurs, which in itself is an illustrative morality play contrasting the differences between socialism and capitalism. “My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks,” Barack Obama told the CEOs of the world’s most powerful financial institutions on March 27 ... he wasn’t in a mood to hear them out. He interrupted them by saying, “Be careful how you make those statements, gentlemen. The public isn’t buying that.” In Obama’s code language, the word “pitchforks” means “a vigorous campaign of threats and intimidation perpetrated by Obama-sponsored ACORN and union activists in conjunction with theatrical outrage from government officials, amplified by the complicit media, and coordinated from one political center, which has now moved to the White House.” The words “public” and “the people” denote “an appearance of broad popular movement created by a small but highly organized band of professional pitchfork operators (ACORN) who rely on the government funding and the media’s eagerness to present their deliberately planned actions and pre-fabricated messages as heartfelt and spontaneous.” In compliance with Orwellian logic, Obama’s “Newspeak” not only redefines existing meanings, it also abolishes ranges of “Oldspeak” meanings such as property, markets, competition, capitalism, political opposition, and the rule of law. The latter is perhaps the most important ingredient missing in his new “pitchfork” formula, signaling that law is now being replaced with mob rule. In a balanced society, an angry mob is never a part of the equation. But if the goal is to throw a capitalist society off balance in order to change it, an angry mob is the ticket. Anger is known to be the easiest and the most effective tool of crowd manipulation. Angry mobs cancel out the rule of law. Infusing anger into a community and turning it into an angry mob, canceling out the rule of law, and changing the balance in a society — this is what community organizers do for a living. Community organizers were instrumental in forcing banks to give subprime loans to unqualified minority borrowers by using the “pitchforks” tactics — protesting in front of the banks, camping on the lawns of the bankers’ family houses, intimidating families, and suing in courts. After the bankers were sufficiently roughed up, a community organizer would show up at their office to “negotiate” the bank’s surrender in the form of bad loans and money for community organizations that pay community organizers for their “services.” Once a community organizer gains control of the media and the government, the next logical step is to turn the entire nation into a mob and set them against businesses, while offering the latter government “protection.” The subsequent takeover of the economy leaves the future society reduced to the two basic elements: an authoritarian government and a compliant mob. This may be an ideal arrangement for a community organizer, but it’s a direct opposite of what the Founding Fathers had intended. Most Americans will probably associate this trend with the protection racket that was rampant in Chicago in the 1930s. It follows the same pattern: the mob, in conjunction with the unions, would organize strikes and protests, do physical damage, and intimidate business owners. Then a mob representative would meet with the owner and offer “protection” by saying “I’m the only thing between you and the pitchforks.” Curiously enough, at about the same time, a similar drama was unfolding halfway across the world in the Eastern Siberia — only this time the role of the mob was played by a government that claimed to act in the interests of the workers. And while the mobsters were motivated by greed and used the workers simply to milk the capitalists, a workers’ government, motivated by the common good morality, used the workers for something much more sinister and immoral. Nikolai Bukharin, a former community organizer in charge of industrial development, came up with an idea to infuse some capitalism and lease Siberian mines to British mining companies. The plan was approved by Stalin. [A series of organized strikes and riots ensued, forcing concession after concession from the mining companies. The British min owners complained to the government.] Bukharin, on behalf of the party and the government, answered that he had no power over the unions. This was not a capitalist country where governments oppressed their workers. This was a workers’ state, ruled by the workers who were getting angry at capitalist exploitation, and the government had to obey their will. Long story short, and not necessarily in these words, the gist of the message was that the Brit http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obama-the-pitchfork-operator-a-remake-of-the-soviet-classic/ .the gist of the message was that the Brits only had Stalin’s mercy standing between them and the pitchforks, and they better not push it. As a result, the Soviet government got new working equipment, trained workers, and well-organized production — all free of charge. None of the captains of socialist industry lost any sleep; it was done for the common good of the workers, and so the end justified the means. According to a witness account, members of the party’s central committee, including Stalin, laughed hysterically every time Bukharin retold the story of how the workers’ state fooled Western capitalism. But the joke really was on the workers. ... ... But the joke really was on the workers. As soon as the British left, the mines were taken over by the state, the wages dropped to the national average, and the usual misery ensued. The unions had done their job; there were no more strikes. Who would dare protest the party that acted in the interests of the workers? No one was foolish enough to stick his head into that noose and be declared enemy of the people. And since everyone acted smart and in the interests of the common good, the industry quickly declined to the pre-capitalist level. In 1937, Bukharin himself was declared an enemy of the people and, after a show trial, executed on unrelated charges. ... In the absence of economic incentives, the stagnant and unproductive industries could only be run by threats and intimidation. Those who think that the Soviet system was an aberration of socialism, please consider that it had been consistent with the principles of equality and the common good. Stalin’s reign of terror was merely an inevitable end result of a collectivist utopian theory that contradicted human nature, vilifying people for “greed” and “selfishness,” which were mere manifestations of their individuality, and punishing the desire to be free from state-run slavery. It appears that the ultimate manifestation of the “common good” principle is an absolute power of the state. Stalinists associated the idea of “socialism with a human face” with moral confusion and ideological corruption. At least the henchmen were consistent in their beliefs. As post-Stalin liberal reforms softened the totalitarian system, they also made it more dysfunctional. With the fear of repressions withering away, the economy slowed down to a halt. But American “progressives” seem to be unable to learn from other people’s mistakes. Even Putin himself asks Obama to take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence. In the 20th century, the Soviet Union ... 1the Soviet Union made the state’s role absolute. In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. This lesson cost us dearly. I am sure nobody wants to see it repeated." [quoted text slightly digested] * * * Should American's tolerate Obama's use of angry mobs to extort from private business? http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obama-the-pitchfork-operator-a-remake-of-the-soviet-classic/2/ My own thoughts? Can't I agree to see things through the eyes of a man who lived out the bitter fruit of what Obama is attempting to accomplish in the US? Oleg was born in the USSR, that part now which is the Ukraine. When we appreciate the eyes of others our own eyes become like those of eagles! I have seen bureaucratic power grabs fueled by public relations and coherent media targeting of individuals to stoke up mob anger against them before, up close. I've even used a similar campaign to get a corrupt quasi-public foundation booted from a governmental responsibility it had taken over. So I have, perhaps, more of a sense of how dangerous such endeavors are -- they are like trying to lasso a tornado, even when done for the best motives. Isn't there a saying somewhere "Judge not from anger"? I agree with that. Yet anger motivates a mob. Mobs are potent! Stoking mob anger is so exhilarating! But anger is never managed -- it is always unstable, and it will turn against you, but first it will destroy many innocents. And that is the worst of it, when a mob takes to anger and then causes terrible damage what happens in later years to the mob? They are broken internally, deep in their psyches a key is ruined, as individuals lose the ability to create, to enjoy. Sad. Oh ... as long as G-d gives you life, you have a duty to seek the good, no matter how sad, pained, destroyed, unredeemable you may feel -- trust that in that deep, cold and dark well of your own soul, there is an eternal spark you can -- you have a duty to seek -- to seek and and finds, and in that be comforted. You will find it.
How did this happen in this country? Congressmen and presidents get their full salary for life after one term and full taxpayer funded health care. They take month-long vacations. Congressmen vote for their own raises. If they want to start a business, ex-Presidents get taxpayer money for it. Ex-presidents get secret services protection for life even though they're not part of the line of succession. Corporations donate to political campaigns and have more access to and influence over congressmen than any ordinary constituents. Law enforcement officers get scolded or fired for investigating or even questioning federal elected officials. Federal officials generally get away with more crimes easier than an ordinary citizen. Presidents and Congressmen are employed by the most people in the country, yet cannot be fired outright for things that any other person would be, like lying, bribery, poor job performance, tardiness, or budget constraints. When their are budget problems congressmen will shutdown public facilities and services before taking a pay cut. Is it just me, or should: congressmen and presidents be paid $20 for a job that brings them so many privileges, they have to shop and pay for their health care, find their own transportation to work, be forbidden from taking campaign contributions from influential people/organizations, be monitored closely for any conflict of interest, and be able to be easily fired by the people they're supposed to represent" Governors can appoint someone to serve out a dead senator's term, why not let them fire senators for misconduct, suspicion of lying, or crimes. Our leaders and representatives should fear and fear being fired. Government and school systems seem to be the only place where the majority group of people (who are responsible for the existence of the minority group's jobs) is told what to do by the minority group. Corporate and industrial lobbyists should be outlawed. Congressmen should spend have to spend 26 weeks a year working in DC and 26 weeks conversing with their constituents. While in Washington D.C., congressmen should live in dormitories and work 8-5 with 1 hour for lunch. While in their home state or district they should travel that area in tour bus, talking with the people that pay their salary for at least 8 hours a day. If constituents don't think their representative is doing a good job, they should have the chance to vote to fire them every months. Congressmen like to think that their votes count. Well, if more than 50% of the votes say they're fired, they're fired. If at least 2/3 say they're fired, they're fired and get don't get any severance package. We'd save so much money and have a government that works more efficiently.
any small business owners want to help me? I need to interview some small business for a class project. How will the One Party Democrat Government systematically divert the stimulus monies to themselves? I am pretty sure Robert Riche and Charlie Rangle tipped their hand with the proposed stimulus monies being targeted towards women and minorities and to "Not find it's way to white construction workers. My predictions is they will revert to old policies that will give government funds to companies owned by minorities and the most highly prized companies owned by a minority woman. If they can deliver the goods is irrelevant. In the bad old days, which I suspect are coming back, the government went out of it's way to basically give away/set up businesses for minorities. No collateral up front, (no personal risk or responsibility involved) interest free tax payer backed loans. Tax payer funded training and business advice. The corrupt politicians will be connected to the hand picked companies that will be comprised of the people that the Charlie Rangles and Robert Riche's find worthy of your tax dollars. What is done with the billions of dollars is irrelevant just so long as the selected people are getting the monies. How do you think they will mismanage and steal the money?
Is Brown and his administration desperate and in dispair? On the banks bonus. They are doing things against UK banks which Obama and his administration and its Fed will not do for their US banks PM Brown tells banks that they must put lending to business and home buyers before making huge bonus payouts. The Chancellor, Alistair Darling warns banks that he wants to impose a kind of windfall tax in his Rre budget statement next month. Angela Knight, chief executive of British Bankers'Association "the blanket tax arose in the industry would be unfair to those banks which had not turned to government for a bailout. Obviously Brown and his administration is against free market and capitalism. And are hiding behind their immunity against persecutions. Now is the time for all shareholders of banks including those minority shareholders of RBS to unite together for a Shareholder Revolution, and put the case of their shareholders' Rights to Parliament Brown and his administration are destroying UK banks as the worlds' best multinational Banking Institutions. Such desperate acts by the British government will frightened away foreign investors and Sovereign Wealth Funds which want to invest in British banks but also other business organisations. i hate ya-hoo so much right now!, In this troubled times, I like your lyrics for a song. Thanks.

Please don't take offense to this because none is intended, but I see Korean's running the hair & nail salons across the country, Pakistani and Arabs running gas stations nationwide, Hispanics running landscaping businesses from state to state. I am a minority woman with a cosmetics business. I need capital. How did you get the funding for your businesses? Please don't hold back. Any advice or instruction you could give me will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!!! Again, please don't take offense. Instead of asking other people, I decided to simply ask "you". VINCE thanks! I see some errors in your sentence as well. & it looks like it's broken into 2 parts LOL. Your attitude stinks & this is not why I posted this question. If anyone else comes here with attitude & nothing constructive, you'll be blocked, just like Vince. VINCE thanks! I see some errors in your sentence as well. & it looks like it's broken into 2 parts LOL.
Can you tell me what characteristic of fascism we need to see to call this government fascist? 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, and the like. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, and the like. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda i s neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes the media are directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media are indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed . 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked and governments often refuse to fund the arts. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. Do we need all or with just one is enogh?

Does this paragraph flows? Hello my friends: I am writing a paper about the media. I took a position that the media (radio stations) are not in controlled by a few corporations... Please critique and give tips so i could improve my writing. A recent study of radio stations reveals that today more radio stations are owned by minority-owned businesses. The Commerce Department report stated that last year, “minorities owned 449 commercial radio and TV stations, a jump of 33% since 1998.” The government said about half of the reported gains were a result of an improved method for identifying minority owners such as age, race, sex and ethnicity. Clear Channel, the largest corporation by market share, owns less than 10 percent of radio stations nationwide; it has been committed in giving $15 million yearly to Quetzal/Chase Fund, which invests to promote in minority owned media. These facts, contrary to what it’s believed by a small radical minority groups, disprove their paranoia that the media is controlled by a few wealthy elites. Studies and research has proved that minority own ownership is improving by substantial gains and there is a conscious effort among government agencies in promoting minority own ownership of various mediums such as radio stations and television stations. As the chart below demonstrates, the constant effort by various governmental agencies in promoting minority ownership of radios stations have seen a steady increase in the number of new radio stations licenses. From 1990 to 2003, approximately 3000 new radio stations licenses were granted were two-thirds of the new licenses were issued to minority own business.
When will America revolt against capitalism? Throughout history, Americans have been looking to the government to make our decisions for us, to save us from poverty, to make our jobs more secure, to make sure we are happy. But sadly, we have never been happy. We have never been helped. Sure, Democrats have worked somewhat to appease the working people and calm them down throughout history by sending tiny little treats to us in the form of welfare, school funding, government jobs, higher minimum wage, etc. But have we ever been happy with the outcome? that answer is easy since we are not currently happy. so what will the United States do? we will toss Obama out for his policy of "change" that didn't really change anything for the people. It just reshuffled the same old deck of cards. So, we will elect a republican president that meets the same fate of not being able to solve the working people's problems. We'll toss him out for his failed policies and be right back at ground zero with our new democratic president. When will people see that our dominating two-party system inst providing for its people? Democrats think they can help by putting bandages on the massive heart attack that is capitalism while Republicans try to remove them in the hope that it will recover naturally. In either case, it would have worked by now. Capitalism would have provided for its people, not just the wealthy. food wouldn't be locked away in storage because it isn't profitable to sell while 20% of children in the US alone are living in poverty. If the united states produces enough food to feed the world, why are 40% of humans starving to death worldwide? I guess it isn't profitable to sell food to starving people. We can see subtle signs of revolt already. the Tea Party, for example, is a form of revolt. they have it half right in that government is not here to solve our problems. they have it wrong in thinking that the huge corporations will save us and give us good jobs. but the corporations are too busy "downsizing": meaning that they lay-off and outsource the workers to earn additional profits. It was reported that as a result of the financial crisis of 2008 , there was a 17% increase in millionaires while millions of people lost their jobs. Corporations are not saving us. Other forms of revolt are an increase in racism. our system has done an amazing job of pitting us against each other to keep us separated; to keep us from collaborating. We have started to blame minorities for our insecurities, our unemployment, and our unhappiness. when will we realize that we are all fighting the same fight? we are all being exploited by the people we make the money for, and they are telling us to be grateful for it. Of the two ways our revolution could go, i fear we are close to the wrong path. the path of racism, of looking to corporations and government to save us, of immense national pride, of fascism. Big Government is not the answer to our problems. Big Business is not the answer to our problems. WE THE PEOPLE are the answer to our problems! when will we revolt?
Is it possible to be a consumer in the West and NOT support unethical business practices?? For example, I am a self-confessed chocoholic, especially Cadburys, but I hate the fact that they exploit the countries supplying the cocoa. I used to shop at Gap, but discovered years ago that they use child labour - and were recently found to still be employing children. I have just watched a documentary about Coca cola and found out it had ties with Nazi Germany, employed questionable practices with regard to hiring of ethnic minorities, also has ties with child labour and so on. And due to the vicious, murderous nature of the diamond industry, I will never wear diamonds again. I never intended to be a kaftan-wearing, tree-hugging "ethical consumer", but it looks LIKELY that almost every big corporation out there is, at best, horribly exploiting somebody much weaker than themselves. At worst, it is killing them. ANyone out there feel where I am coming from? Can I go out and buy a packet of chewing gum without funding some oppressive, violent regime? John inMelb, i gotta respond: Firstly to your suggestion that my question is patronising, not only do i disagree strongly but I also think that for you to speak on behalf of these people and say that ethical consumerism is patronising is., well, patronising in itself. Let the people concerned tell me that they dont want fairer trade practices, its not really your place to tell me that. From what I see on the TV, many third world countries welcome efforts to impose fairer trade practices on large western corporations. Secondly and more importantly, the idea that we are somehow helping the exploited parties by continuing to patronise these big businesses is ludicrous. That kinda like solving the problem of bullying at school by expelling the victims. It admittedly means that the victims no longer get bullied, but at the victims expense. And it gives the bullies additional power, something they do not need. By continuing to blindly fund these corporations, you are part of the problem, not the solution. Dont try to make yourself feel better by concluding that the ONLY way you can help those exploited (and by the way, this question was not just about child labour but about businesses with blood on their hands) is by continuing to spend your money. WHy dont you lobby your government, apply pressure to ensure that there are procedures in place which will penalise corporations who fund oppressive regimes? Why dont you campaign for your government to employ a fair trade scheme for businesses, so that children in Africa can go to school instead of slaving for hours everyday harvesting cocoa for a pittance so that we in the West can have cheap chocolate?? Johninmelb Like most people, I get my information from a wide range of media sources. The TV and the media in general is where ALL of us get our information about what is going on in the world. If TV/radio/press are not credible sources of information for news on exploited 3rd world countries (because they are too "generalised") then they arent credible for ANY information. I did deal with your comments about capitalism - for issues like child labour i proposed ways of putting pressure on big business so that they cant just railroad over people. Those are just fro the top of my head. You seem like a smart man, if you sat down for 5 mins you could come up with some ideas yourself. I understand that we will always have people earning less than others but its down those of us with a conscience to lead from the front and force these companies to adjust their behaviour, not just roll over and play dead and line their pockets further!! The existence of the Fairtrade Organisation tells me a) that this is far from being an exercise in futility which is what you seem to be suggesting and b) that there are plenty of people who feel the same way i do, and the way you apparently used to. You inferred that I was dealing with the effect rather than the cause of 3rd world exploitation - how so? I suggested lobbying your government.
Who Am I...................? I believe.... In abortion on demand. Capital punishment is barbaric but partial-birth-abortion is justifiable. In same-sex marriage. Higher taxes will help everyone. Business and Capitalism create oppression and misery. Only the Government can create prosperity. Traditional gender roles are bad and un-natural. Homosexual parades with drag-queens and trans-sexuals should be Constitutionally protected. Manger scenes and public prayer should be illegal. Children should be taught how to use a condom but not how to abstain. That the same 4th-grade teacher who can't teach the children how to read should be the one teaching them about sex. There was no Art before Federal funding and there can be none without it. AIDS is spread by the lack of Federal funding. Minorities can achieve anything (but only if they are helped by the Government.) The National Rifle Association is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution. The ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
Nancy Pelosi. Want to know how to get back at President Bush? First we can put a windfall tax on the stock market, including retirement funds, 401K's, and mutual funds. This would help the 20 million illegal immigrants and other unemployed minorities. The stock market is at record highs, helping the rich get richer. Cut Bush's tax cuts too, as the economy has rebounded, with record low unemployment rates. Despite the war in Iraq our economy is still strong, and tax revenues at an all time high, with the deficit shrinking. Doesn't this mean business is exploiting the war effort and hard working Americans have money in their pockets. This would be communism at it's best, don't ya think? Yeah Right: Sorry but this plan would only tax winners, if you lose it is your fault! David R: Christians and lying? Oxymoron, I believe! tx_trott: Sarcastic? Me? Whatever would give you that idea? My tongue is in my cheek as I type this. Wildman: Don't give them any more ideas! :)
Will democrats even fund an invisible non-existent airport? Of course they will... why not? Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (democrat Rep.) asks for a $231,000.00 earmark for the famous Abe Lincoln Airport in University Park, IL. Just miles outside of Chicago. The earmark is to be used to assist "minority and small business development". I know... shocking isn't it. It almost passed, (since each year congress approves more than 30,000 special-intrest earmarks), until House Republican's pointed out the those little things that get in the way of democrats stealing tax payer dollars... THE AIRPORT DOES NOT EXIST. http://redstate.com/stories/congress/the_abe_lincoln_airport_jesse_jr_follows_in_his_dads_footsteps We should ask the Lincoln Airport Commission about the earmark? Good idea. It's Executive Director is Richard Bryant. Those of you in the Chicago area may know him. He's a paid staffer in the office of Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. So how many people think we need more social programs and earmarks for them? How about we clean house? I agree... clean house everywhere.... way too much senseless spending on non-existent programs. I think if anyone is found fleecing America like this they should be forced to resign and have criminal charges brought against them. On both sides.... Henry... I agree but the Dems didn't catch it here or with the bridge... I'm glad it was caught to... by any side

What is your take Illegal Aliens: And The People Controlling Them!? Somewhat reluctantly the media report the facts about the illegal immigrants that are murdering some of the citizens in this country while receiving protection and legal help from others. American citizens are being murdered by illegal immigrants that would not be in this country if the Federal Government had done the job it is legally tasked to do. Will the media give a complete report on the people that provide all the money used to pay for the legal and economic help these illegal immigrants receive for any crime they commit. It seem they have people willing to donate money and time to support them (the illegal immigrant) in any and all of life’s endeavors. For this group or groups to respond as rapidly and efficiently as they have thus far, require a well run and well funded operation. I tried to anticipate the problems with illegal immigrants in this post. Therefore when you hear about a businessman required to move his business because the illegal immigrants need the space and he can not speak the language, or a neighborhood totally avoided as far as postings in the media about job openings. And Communities going-to-bat to get college enrollment and other family benefits for illegal immigrants, while the local minorities are uneducated, poor and unemployed, just remember they have a community— maybe a nation helping and backing them to get everything they need to stay in this country legally or illegally. Question, why are they coming here? What do they want? Are they really here to get a job and send money back to support their families in Mexico? Or, are they here because an organized group think this is the best way to get control of a country that rightfully belong to them? I get the feeling these people are part of a plan to take control of a large segment of this country’s territory. That is legal and can be done by any group that can get enough votes in the coming elections. People here illegally can not vote and should not take part in the elections in this country until they earn legal status. Daily, States and Cities provide more safe-havens as racial tensions increase in areas where illegals and citizens live in conflict, and both communities and businesses will pay a price for the destruction.
How Do You Feel About Jesse Jackson? Please don not post racist coments. Jesse Jackson isn't letting anything like a secret out-of-wedlock daughter and growing questions about his personal and organization funding get him down. On the contrary: He's pressing forward with his Wall Street Project, in which some of America's largest corporations have donated millions to his network of charities and organizations. Ostensibly, Jackson's projects are designed to increase minority participation on Wall Street. But many corporations have learned that a hefty donation to Jackson's causes is simply the best way to change the reverend's political course and bring him around to their side. And the best way to ensure Jackson's support is to make sure that his family and close friends get a large slice of the pie. No wonder Jackson's most recent book is entitled, "It's About the Money: How to Build Wealth, Get Access to Capital and Achieve Your Financial Dreams." IT all began in the early '80s, when Jackson's demands moved Coca-Cola to award more distributorships to minorities. Among those who got the lucrative contracts: Jackson's half-brother, Noah Robinson (now serving a life prison sentence for hiring gang members to kill three business associates). In 1996, Jackson successfully pressured Texaco to pony up hundreds of millions to settle a discrimination lawsuit - even though no racial discrimination was ever proven. (A "smoking-gun" tape of company execs was later determined to contain no racial slurs.) But Jackson had learned that companies will pay up in order to avoid bad publicity and accusations of racism - even if totally unfounded. So in 1997 he formed the Wall Street Project - which now rakes in some $10 million a year. And as investigations by The Post, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Los Angeles Times demonstrate, Jackson's support was easily bought. Indeed, noted the L.A. Times, "Corporations have paid handsomely to get Jackson off their backs." For example: * In February 1997, Jackson filed a petition with the FCC to block Viacom's bid to sell 10 radio stations, saying the company had reneged on a promise to sell some of them to minorities. Viacom agreed to create a $2 million fund to promote minority ownership of broadcast properties. Jackson then ended his opposition, and the sale was approved. The fund is administered by Washington lobbyist Warner Session - who later awarded the Jackson's Citizenship Education Fund (CEF) $680,000. * In May 1998, Jackson called President Clinton to block a proposed merger of SBC and Ameritech, calling it "antithetical to basic democratic values." In early 1999, the two firms pledged $1 million to CEF; Ameritech agreed to sell its cellular business to a new partnership that included longtime Jackson pal Chester Davenport, who had no previous telecommunications experience. Davenport later hired Jackson's son Jonathan - who also happens to be president of CEF - as a consultant. (Jackson's wife Jacqueline is a member of the CEF board, and their son Yusef is the board attorney.) In March 1999, Jackson declared the merger to be "in the public interest. * In 1998, Jackson's sons Yusef and Jonathan were awarded the largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship in Chicago by company head August Busch IV. He'd been introduced to the Jacksons by Beverly Hills billionaire Ron Burkle - who later hired Karin Stanford, mother of Jesse's child, as a "consultant." Back in the '80s, Jesse Jackson had organized a boycott of Anheuser-Busch, complaining about the company's hiring and promotion practices. The two Jackson sons today refuse to disclose their own minority-hiring practices. * In Dec. 1998, Jackson threatened to block the GTE-Bell Atlantic merger unless he got guarantees regarding the minority community. Over the next four months, the companies pledged $1.5 million to CEF and gave Chester Davenport a 7 percent stake - and the chairmanship - of its new cellular business. In May 1999, Jackson endorsed the merger, now known as Verizon. And five Verizon executives just addressed Jackson's latest Wall Street Project conference. * In Dec. 1998, Jackson opposed AT&T's merger with TCI, charging the latter has "a "questionable record and a poor level of public service." The next month, AT&T pledged $425,000 to the CEF and sent its chairman to one of Jackson's conferences, where he pledged to hire a minority-owned firm to handle its bond offering. The firm that was eventually chosen for the $750,000 contract, Blaylock & Partners, has close ties to Jackson. * In Feb. 1999, Jackson negotiated a settlement in a racial discrimination lawsuit filed against Boeing by 13,000 employees. Days later, Boeing donated $50,000 to the CEF and made several subsequent donations. Later, the company arranged for hundreds of millions in company pension funds to be administered by minority-owned investment banks, at least two of which are Jackson financial backers. * In May 1999, Jackson pressured PepsiCo - on the eve of its initial public offering - to give part of the lucrative deal to Utendahl Capital Partners, which has since donated tens of thousands to CEF; PepsiCo has given substantially more. * In Sept. 1999, Jackson opposed the merger of CBS and Viacom. Two days later, Jackson - together with Chester Davenport and longtime partner Percy Sutton, a CEF board member (Jackson and his wife hold $1.2 million worth of shares in Sutton's Inner City Broadcasting) met with CBS Chairman Mel Karmazin and urged him to sell the UPN network to a minority owner. Viacom and UPN then pledged $730,000 to the CEF. The FCC eventually approved the merger - contingent on Viacom selling UPN within one year. Jackson also took Sutton along to promote Inner City investments (in which, as a shareholder, he and his wife stand to benefit) during a trade mission to Africa in his role as Clinton's special envoy to the continent. One of the few corporate heads to resist Jackson's shakedown efforts was T. J. Rodgers, CEO of Cypress Semiconductor, who insisted his industry's workforce is appropriately diverse. The response from Team Jackson: "We can now officially describe Cypress Semiconductor as a white-supremacist hate group." "He declares racism based on dubious statistics," Rodgers told the Los Angeles Times. "Then he gives you a chance to repent - and the basic way to [repent] is to give Jesse money. The threat is you'll be labeled a racist if you don't." For years, the news media have taken a hands-off attitude to Jackson - particularly when it comes to his finances and his political hustling. Now, his personal scandal has finally forced him to open up the books and records. And it's becoming increasingly clear that Jesse Jackson has a great deal of explaining to do.
