What are good ways to find angel investors?

My partner and I are starting a business and we're looking to raise $300,000 to get it started. We have one investor lined up to talk to because he's a family acquaintance, but other than that - we have 0 possibilities. I feel like most people get one or more investor, but I have no idea how to find other angel investors. Any ideas of where to look? Or, would you say we have a good shot of getting just that one investor to invest?

  1. Okay, Spam Central over here... An angel investor is just someone who'll buy a portion of your business, or lend you money for your business, as well as offer you advice on how to build it as effectively as possible, right? Some ideas off the top of my head: 1. Family members who've been successful in business 2. Experienced local community leaders (who aren't into the power struggle of youth, and want to give something back) 3. Anyone who seems like they could field-strip a business 4. Anyone who has money and kindness, who didn't inherit the former and isn't afraid to show the latter 5. Anyone who visits a web site you build asking for advice, and actually offers something real Sometimes a little knowledge is more powerful than a lot of money. I rarely turn away either, when they find me (not often enough, IMO). Hope that helps.
